Trick or Treat

Our 2nd Halloween in our new house was fun with friends & family over.  We had my parents, my in-laws, my brother-in-law & his family, Christopher, a friend of Halie's, and a friend of Rachel's along with her 2 sisters & mother.  I cooked chili for everyone, Derrick brought hot dogs,  and my daddy brought his fire pit & started a fire outside.

The neighborhood was packed with trick or treaters & most houses participated in giving out candy or treats.  One family did a great job of making a haunted house in their garage.  We probably trick or treated about 2 hours.

The girls & me.  I wore my costume just for pictures.  Too cold!

A nice, cool evening to sit by a fire

Thank you, Halie, for giving out the candy!

Pumpkin Shine on Line

We almost missed Pumpkin Shine this year because I had a near dead battery after Halie's guitar lesson.  It was late before Kevin could come help us, so he took Halie home to do her homework while Rachel & I went.  It was very dark, so we couldn't see well.  Here are some of the best.

Rachel's pumpkin is in this display.  On the right, next to the person's leg.

Rachel's 11th birthday

Thursday, my baby turned 11 years old.  She spent the day performing her 5th grade play twice at school for the underclassmen, & a day without usual end of week tests since it was a 4 day week.

On her birthday, we had a celebration at home.  She had requested a home cooked dinner.  I had cupcakes instead of a cake.  Mamaw & Papaw came over to wish her a happy birthday & brought her birthday present to her.

We had her party on Thursday.  Her party was a sleepover, followed by a morning of playtime at Nanny & Pop's the next morning.

 Sweet sisters

 Just dance!

 Yum!  From Lyla's bakery

Before eating any cake, each girl took a picture with her phone & texted it to other friends

Corn Maze

Saturday, we drove to Dixie to go to the corn maze.  We didn't go through the haunted corn maze because it started after dark & because Rachel was with us.   We went through the regular maze.  They also had a real pumpkin patch & we got to pick our own pumpkins!  It was suprising to me how much the kids seemed to enjoy looking for & picking them.  I don't know if they weren't quite ready for harvest or if pumpkins change to orange after they are picked, but 2 days later, ours are still green.

Duran Duran

Duran Duran was in Baton Rouge last night, & I got to go to the concert with Laura, Tammy & her daughter, & Whitney.  It was an incredible performance & we had fantastic seats on the 5th row center.  Ruthie didn't get to go because it was the same night as her high schoolers' homecoming.  Ruthie sent me in her vintage Duran Duran concert tshirt with hopes of getting it signed!  I was unsuccessful at the signing.

Red River Revel

My favorite month of my favorite season is here!  I love October because it finally cools down a little, the Revel comes, my chick has a birthday, & Halloween comes.   I love fall colors & love to get out fall decorations & buy pumpkins.

This weekend, we got to go to the Revel.  Rachel was spending the night with a friend, so she missed it.  We took Halie & a friend, and Christopher & one of his friends.

Christopher & his friend, Thomas, planned to have a good time wearing their morphsuits.  It was hilarious watching the reactions of people.  They drew lots of attention as street performers.

They were disappointed when they were told they couldn't perform or have their faces covered & had to stop.
